Hey, Mountain Bike Action: Planning to buy a neck brace, but a lot of people say these things don't fit most body armor. True?
- Stan, dressing for the crash

A: Neck braces and body armor do sometimes have compatibility issues. This is because the braces need to fit perfectly to be effective. Many new body armor companies are specifically designing for this now, but if your current armor is old, chances are you will have issues no matter which brand of brace you buy. Check out the Leatt-Brace fit guide on the Troy Lee Design website (click here). While you’re at it, check out their brace compatible chest protectors like the Rincon. The most important thing to remember is not to modify either the neck brace or the body armor to make them fit together. Your handiwork could cause the protective gear to not work properly or even worse, cause injury.
