2013 Trek Remedy 9.9

2013 Specialized S-Works Enduro Carbon

Q:
Been riding a Santa Cruz Heckler for five years now, and it’s ready to retire. I love Santa Cruz bikes, and I’m leaning toward the Nomad. Are the Trek Remedy or Specialized Enduro better options?
—Tyler, who is ready to rage

A: The Trek and Specialized have an edge in the climbing department over the Nomad. They both pedal better than the Nomad’s VPP rear suspension, which relies on a mechanical advantage to keep unwanted suspension movement in check. When it comes to going back down the hill, however, there is no weak spot with the Nomad. Our decision would be based on how much you pedal. If you do long rides and lots of climbs, you owe it to yourself to test ride both the Trek and Specialized. If you are more of a descender, you’ll have more fun on the Nomad than you did on your Heckler.
