The final round of the Shimano Winter Series Super D delivered a great course and incredible conditions. Thanks to rain leading up to the event many of the new sections the trail crew put together got desperately needed water that helped getting to get them packed and ready for the eager Super D riders.
The Pro men’s race was decided by only a .90 difference with 3-time 2013 Winter Series winner Waylon Smith
ending up on the top step of the podium. Waylon did it with a 3:59.62 and a 4:35.47 while second place rider Jeremy Kneisly of Troy Lee Designs ran a 3:55.38 and a 4:40.61. With this win Waylon clinched the Winter Series Super D title. In 3rd place was two-time Winter Series winner Jon Buckell of Incycles and Shimano. 4th went to Northern California resident and new Yeti team rider Mason Bond. 5th was course designer and Shimano marketing man Joe Lawwill. 6th went to another Northern California rider John Hauer from X-Fushion/Muscle Milk.
This year’s Super D Winter Series was the most successful yet. Great turnouts and lots of stoked riders. Thanks to Shimano, The Path Bike shop and Donny Jackson of Southridge USA for making it possible to build all of the fun courses. Special thanks to trail builders Joe Lawwill, Jordan Steyer, Mason Bond, Art Babcock, Craig Harvey, Rob Whyte, Connor Rasmussen, Andrew Kempe, Jonny Weir, Sanjay and Jason Sheehan.
