Invasion: Hot air balloons leave from nearby Lake Skinner. The Annual Balloon and Wine Festival also had live music and freestyle motocross.

This is Griffith: After marriage, kids, home building (Garnet) and school (Griffith), the Vertican brothers are back in the saddle.

Greenery: Troy Van Der rounds the Start/Finish and heads out for lap 3. The start is next to the pond and shaded by old oaks and cotton woods.

Baby Vertican: Garnet holds 14-month-old Katelyn after the race. Garnet still rides for longtime sponsor odi-Southridge.

SD stats: Jerome Lacote and Brian Crooks descending shortly off the Super D start. There is an 800 foot drop to the finish at the pool.

Jerome in orange: Lacote picks material, designs a frame, and has his own single speeds custom made in Taiwan.

Shops north of the boarder: Brian Crooks hails from nearby Murrieta. Although he works next door to Turner Bikes he rides a Rocky Mountain.

1x1 vs 3x9: Brian (L) used gears to lead into the finish. But a careful draft and a great sprint gave Jerome the SD win...on a single speed!

KHS-CYTOMAX RACE CLINIC ANNOUNCED

We have been working with SoCal pro Chuck Jenkins and the KHS-Cytomax team that he rides for. They have agreed to do clinics after select events. It will be a skills and nutrition class followed by an extensive question and answer session. The additional fee to attend the KHS-Cytomax Clinic is still being determined. All students will receive a packet containing Cytomax product and other goodies from sponsors. The first clinic date will be July 5, 2008. Each clinic will be 2 hours long and be followed by a barbeque. Team riders Sean Donovan, Chuck Jenkins and Hal Helbock will be present. Sign up now because clinics will be limited to the first 30 riders.
