She's alive: Moments later "womanican" happened out on the course to direct race traffic. Red Hawk Bicycles is located 5 minutes for Vail Lake.

MTB Microsoft: Jason Gates and Shalyn Gates; dad David signs up Addison Hinrich (blue) while lil' sis watches. The pool in the back is very popular post race.

Holeshot Award: Three lap race winner Tom Koerner pulls the holeshot. That is Cal Coast's David Keen battling it out with Vail Race Director Robert Herber (no number).

1x1 vs 3x9: Eric Hagerty (yellow) aboard a single speeder was the second fastest 3 lap rider. Collin Valentine on the geared bike placed 2nd Sport.

Heat relief: The pack ascend towards Dam Road. For the first Vail Lake race of June the riders made a U turn at the top instead of grinding up Dam Climb.

Ten point dismount: Between the sand, boulders and photographer, Addison Hinrich finds himself in an awkward position. Addison recovered for the best 1 lap time.

The challenger: 12 hour racer and Vail Lake Single Speed Expert winner Eric Hagerty. "I want other single speeders to come out here and to see if they can beat me!"

Throttle twisiting: Brian Crooks put his moto skills to good use on the Vail Lake Super D course. He was absolutely ripping, like when he flew down the shortcut option.

Team to beat: Redhawk Bikes' Kurt Kovacks completes his 3rd lap and takes the geared expert division. Redhawk continues to have a huge presence at Vail Lake.

Hooked for life: Birthday boy Matt Fatino (Jun 19) dices with Robert Herber in the Super D. This was current 11-year-old Matt's first race and he won to boot!

VAIL LAKE JUNE MINI SERIES RACE #1
The weather was perfect for the first race of Vail Lake's June Mini Series. Trails that were still in great shape after the rains from the past week had riders leaning in and scrapping their knees through the turns. Racers were raving about the condition of the new Bridges Trail as it has now fully packed in. They can't wait for more!

Interest in the Super D is really starting to pick up with the new 11:30 start time. More and more are discovering how much fun the racing is and on how it is such a great way to loosen up the legs after the XC race.
