Travis Pastrana is a personality, no doubt about it. When we heard he was attempting a trick on a mountain bike, that no one had ever attempted, we weren't the least bit surprised. Nevertheless, the video is pretty impressive. The trick is called "The American Roll." It's a double-backflip-360. Check it out:

Here's what Red Bull had to say about the stunt:
Travis Pastrana has conquered motocross and rally racing. He's taken on off-road trucks, NASCAR and now -- mountain biking. This week, he attempted a double back flip full twist, a trick no one had ever landed before.

"I've been doing this trick for four years into a foam pit," Travis wrote to last month. "An Australian kid started doing it into a foam pit and named it the 'Aussie Roll.'"

Aussie Roll? Travis isn't having any of it. Since learning of the Australian, he's been on a mission to land the trick and name it the "American Roll." This week, a day before heading into shoulder surgery, Travis tried it out.

"This was the practice set up for the Plymouth Nitrocross event this weekend," he said. "It looked like the perfect place to attempt the 'America Roll.' The timing couldn't have been better, since I had shoulder surgery scheduled for tomorrow anyway. Unfortunately, Hubert took the 'rezi' landing cover with him, and bicycles don't roll well in mulch!"

The video speaks for itself -- Travis would have clearly stuck it if he had the rezi landing. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below...
