What

are your TransRockies Goals? For many of you, the goal is simply completing the race; for others, it might be a top twenty finish; and for some, a trip the finisher's podium or maybe even an Olympic dream. The reasons for participating are as varied as the hundreds of riders that join us every year but one thing every rider has in common is that they're looking to challenge themselves like never before.
TransRockies is a race geared towards all levels of riders and helping them achieve their own personal goals one epic mountain pass at a time. Weekend warriors and back of the packers line up beside some of the World's best mountain bikers, all sharing the same nervous energy in anticipation of the gun as the start clock counts
down.
Last month we told you about the course and service enhancements which are going to make this the best edition yet of the TR, and now we're going to have the strongest elite field ever competing in a North American stage race.
2010 was already shaping up to be a momentous year for the TransRockies with our return to the epic Alberta Rockies and a brand new route, but UCI's recent granting of S2 status to both the TR and TR3 will help make this year even more significant. The world ranking points that are on offer will attract elite riders gearing up for the 2012 Olympic chase and competing for National Team places. We're only the second mountain bike stage race in North America to offer UCI points and with both of our events sanctioned, we'll be offering twice the points.
With the points chase for the 2012 Olympic spots about to kick off in earnest, we're excited that we're going to be offering riders the opportunity to earn some of the over 2500 UCI points on offer and we're expecting to attract some of the top riders in North America to the start. The sanctioning application was enthusiastically supported by the Canadian Cycling Association: "Having TransRockies become part of the national calendar alongside the other exciting events in Canada this summer, will help to solidify Canada as one of the strongest mountain bike nations in the world!" said Nicholas Vipond, CCA Mountain Bike and BMX Co-ordinator.
The TransRockies brought the concept of mountain bike stage racing to North America and continues to push the format forward, offering the best experience for riders of all levels with a combination of seamless complete support, epic singletrack and real Wild West hospitality.
