Highlights: The all-new Teocali Super features Mongoose's FreeDrive Fox Shox suspension, a Marzocchi fork, and has a zero-stack headset. This all-mountain design features the new Shimano XT component group specifically designed for bikes like the Teocali. The Super cockpit features an Easton EA 70 handlebar and stem, Mongoose lock-on grips, and a WTB Pure V Race saddle. Our medium Teocali Super registered just under 29 pounds.

Best quote: "When pushing the Teocali to its limits in the descending department, the bike doesn't feel like it is getting close to almost six inches of rear wheel travel. The rear end skipped around more than we'd like, especially on rocky or rutted terrain."

Bottom line: The 2008 Mongoose Teocali packs a ton of value into its $2299 price tag. The component spec is more commonly found trailbikes selling for about $1000 more, and we've always liked the pedaling performance of the FreeDrive suspension. All this makes the Teocali Super a no-brainer if your budget tops out at $2500. On top of it all, the new flat-black paint job with polished aluminum rims makes the bike's appearance subtle and attractive at the same.
