Designer Germain Verbrackel was looking to solve a problem for motorcycle riders, but his Tandem helmet may be the best thing to ever happen to trail riders and enduro racers. His helmet has won a RedDot Design Award
Germain's idea was to create two helmets from one by dividing the helmet into a male part and a female part. The parts nest together and can be worn as a single helmet. When separated, they create two helmets, each with a ribbed structure. His idea is for sharing the helmet. But imagine his design that only open the helmet. It is not much of a stretch. A rider on a long climb could enjoy the increased ventilation and then when the downhill comes, the helmet could close down to a full, protective shell.
