Last weekend at Northstar resort in Truckee, California we were lucky enough to attend a great race with a greater cause. In 2007, Llanes suffered a crash that damaged her spinal chord and left her paralyzed from the waist down. The inaugural race, held the same year, was to raise funds for her mounting medical costs. It has evolved into an annual event to raise funds for spinal chord injury research. Since 2009, a portion of the funds from the race have been donated to the Christopher Reeve-Irvine Center.
The Mega Downhill event is the main event and features a mix of technical terrain and plenty of pedaling. It's a downhill race with Super-D flavor.
