The original, two-rider team ultra-endurance event is the TransAlp. It stages out of Fussen in Germany. From there 550 teams battle across the Alps; for eight days, 385 miles, and 65,000 feet of vertical elevation gain. After competitors pass through Austria and Switzerland they will finish in Riva del Garda in Italy. This year's running is the 11th edition of the TransAlp.

Both members of a team are expected to arrive together at each stage finish. Every rider mounts a personalized transponder to measure time. The grand prize to the winning team is $31,500 cash.
