SOUTHRIDGE CHALLENGE
The 16th annual Southridge Challenge is this weekend, November 17-18, 2007.
Can you believe that it has been 16 years? Back in 1992 is when Southridge Racing Club director Donny Jackson looked out the window across the street and up at the hills of Southridge Park. The sight gave him great inspiration. Instead of asking the mountain bike community to drive way up in the mountains Don decided to bring the Norba circus into town. At the time it seemed like a radical idea to hold a mountain bike race at an urban park just across the street from Southridge Cycling. Yet over the next 16 years Don's out-of-the-box thinking has turned Southridge park into one of the most looked forward to Norba Nationals on the circuit. As well as a favorite winter warmup series and the only place to consistently race downhill in Southern California.
That's what makes the 16th running of the annual Southridge Challenge such a special event. Like it has been for the last ten years, you don't have to be a Norba or SRC member to race.
