1. LEVEL I CAMP IN QUESTION

Do you have riders who are new to mountain biking? Are they planning on racing in the upcoming race series? Would they benefit by learning new skills and techniques, or from meeting others their age who have similar interests? Have they registered for the upcoming Level I Camp? The camp, currently scheduled for February 7 at Bonelli Park in San Dimas, is in danger of being cancelled due to an insufficient number of registrants.

If you have riders interested in attending the Level I Camp, please have them register as soon as possible. If we do not have sufficient numbers by Wednesday, January 28th, the camp will be canceled.

For more information about the camp and registration materials, go to http://socaldirt.org/camps/index.htm. Contact tyler@socaldirt.org if you have questions or to report riders intending to register who have not done so.

3. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR LEVEL I CAMP

We are looking for volunteers to help with the Level I Camp on February 7th. Indivuduals who would be willing to perform tasks like skills instruction, ride leaders, registration in the morning and set up/take down of lunch, would be very useful. Please contact justin@socaldirt.org

4. TIME TO GET YOUR TEAM ROLLING!

The inaugural SoCal Race Series is only six weeks away! With the first race scheduled for March 8th, most teams should be in the full swing of things. Hopefully you have all had meetings with both riders and parents. Some teams may have set up full training scheduled for riders. Where are you in your team preparations?

Looking for advice on how to motivate your riders or run team meetings? How about getting the parents involved? A great resource is the League Manual, a result of 8 years of working with high school mountain bike teams. The Manual is available in print only from the League. We believe that it is such a good resource that we offer it to new teams for very affordable prices, contact tyler@socaldirt.org to get yours.
