The 2011 Sea Otter Classic Professional Cross-Country event running under sunny skies and a slight wind was won by Emily Batty and Todd Wells in two hard-fought battles. The cross-country racing continues Sunday with events for sport-level riders going off at 7:30.

Todd Wells rode away from the field with Max Plaxton and Jeremiah Bishop. He used Jeremiah's mistake to seal his win.

Plaxton's early season form is still with him and Adam Craig (behind) is finding his groove.

A hard last-lap get-off ruined Jeremiah Bishop's chances for the win. His third-place finish was an inspiration. Other riders would have thrown in the towel.

We rated Emily Batty as a dark, dark horse for today's win. She proved us wrong with a strong ride to best fellow Canadian Catharine Pendrel.
