RIM NORDIC SUPER D TEST EVENT A BIG SUCCESS

  RIM NORDIC SUPER D
During the Autumn Cup weekend the crew at Rim Nordic threw a bone out to Southern California mountain bikers. It came in the form of a special Super D race held the day before the headlining cross-country event.

So why was it such a treat? For one, it was the inaugural SD event at Rim Nordic. No one knew what to expect or what the course would be like. By the end of the day did we not only knew, but we were all completely blown away by just how cool of a Super D venue Rim Nordic is.

The course started from the water station at the forest service road at the very top of the resort. From there the service road is moderately fast with a few grinding rises along the way. After one mile riders start down a fast single- and dual-track section that leads riders into one of the best features at Rim Nordic; the switchbacked singletrack thrill ride of a drop back down to the resort. At the bottom we headed back to base camp via a series of service road that required the least amount of climbing as possible.

It's a fifteen minute run for a top rider. Not only is it one of the best Super D courses in Southern California, it could be the best Super D circuit in the States! The start is only one mile from staging, and is easily pedaled by taking Highway 18's easy grade up. This test event at Rim Nordic was a big hit with everyone. Expect Super D to be added to the 2008 Rim Nordic XC Series program.
