Team Platinum Performance ventured to Rim Nordic with one thing in mind; to maintain our team lead in the California State Series. With over 22 riders making the trip we managed to take home five first
places finishes, one second, and three thirds. While team points are still being calculated, it looks like we will hold our lead over Team Sho-Air.
Rim Nordic is by far the toughest course we have raced on this year. With lots of steep short climbs, technical loose downhills, a few narrow bridges and cliffs the wooded circuit certainly challenged even the best racers. This was also the perfect post race venue to hang out afterwards, with good food, plenty of shaded picnic tables, and great race volunteers.
The team stud awards goes to Luke Werkhoven for being able to hold off charging Chicken Rancher Mike Abbott for the win in the Clydesdale’s division. Also, Reny Takeda for not only winning the under-ten division, but then being able to ride his off-rode unicycle for two hours around the venue after the race. How many of you could do that?

Heat relief: High up in the San Bernardino National Forest there is a great tree cover and always a gentle breeze.
Team Hammer: The 30-34 Sport XC field was huge. Brian Butler was 2nd with the 11th fastest 2 lap time of 1:30:56.
Body English: Sport 45-49 rider Thomas Blaine (Jose Ole) hunts for the smoothest line down Rim Nordic's thrilling singletrack.

Better with age: Over the years Ron Takeda (Platinum) has steadily improved to become one of SoCal's best 45-49 Experts.
