RIM NORDIC 2008 XC SERIES RACE #1
Trading places: Nu Vision's Keevin Blue leads Bear Valley Bike's Eric Bradley at the end of lap one. In two more laps Eric would finish 2nd Expert Single Speed while Keevin took 3rd.
Math: Team Sho-Air star Manuel Prado couldn't keep pace with Cytomax-KHS rider Sean Donovan. Manny averaged a 12.4 mph pace, which was half-a-mile slower than Sean.
Top 5: Rim Nordic hands out cash to the fastest riders. At race #1 it was Sean Donovan, Manuel Prado, Marvin Campos, Romolo Forcino and Robert Herber. The big check is for $125.
As prommised, the Running Spring's delivered it all. Most of all, it gave riders a break from the heat. It might have been 100 degrees down below, but at Rim Nordic it was 10 degrees cooler with a gentle breeze. Add the generous tree cover, challenging singletrack, the best dirt in Southern California, and you have an epic.
For the opening round of Rim Nordic's annual XC Series, SoCal racers were treated to the traditional long course. It's an 8.3 mile circuit with 1463 feet of total ascent, all of it on the funnest trails you have ever ridden.
Up next and starting July 12 is the legendary SoCal Mt Stage Race. It is the only California mountain bike stage race south of the Sea Otter Classic. At 9 a.m. Saturday morning it begins with Stage 1's mass start hillclimb. Immediately following is the Stage 2 Dirt Crit (short track) at 11 a.m. Stage 3 is round 2 of the XC Series on Sunday.
