Kenda's Ben Anderson and Jake Scott left the mothership in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, to attend the
Cannondale Pro Cycling Team intro (Kenda is their tire supplier) held at Paramount Studios in Hollyweird, California. On Monday between visits to Giant Bikes and KHS Bikes, we were able to snag the two honchos (Jake is the National Sales Manager for the bicycle division and Ben is Marketing Director) for some one-on-one time.
The duo couldn't reveal anything new (it is that time of year when 2014 stuff is not yet finalized), but they were set to meet with Kenda Legends John "Johnny T" Tomac, Eric Carter, Brian Lopes, Hans Rey and Tinker Juarez, who are all Left-Coast based, to get feedback and make possible changes on select models in the Kenda Legends line.
The biggest surprise was so little talk of 27er tires (Kenda already makes them), but of a new category that Ben and Jake say they are getting a lot of interest and requests for...fat bike tires. Both said the number of fat bikes is still relatively small, but they are taking the segment seriously.
We have a 24Seven Race tire review in our upcoming March issue and that will be followed with a review of their Honey Badger Pro tire.
