A few weeks ago USA Cycling called the ultra-endurance event at Sho-Air's American Mountain Classic in Brian Head, UT as the penultimate, next-to-last Ultra Endurance Calendar race. Then through them we find out that there is now another “penultimate” Ultra Endurance Calendar event. We are very confused.
Here is USAC's report:
The penultimate race on the Mountain Bike Ultra Endurance Calendar went off in Payson, AZ with Zach Stanford (Prescott, AZ) and Lisa Barnard (Phoenix, AZ) grabbing the pro wins in the 24 hour contest.

Like we've come to realize in the past two years since the inception of USAC's ill-conceived, roadie-rules-ripoff Mountain Bike Calendars, numerous events can take place, and they have absolutely no affect on the overall standings.
The final 2008 event on the Mountain Bike Ultra Endurance Calendar will be the National Mountain Bike Oktoberfest in Davidson, NC on October 25.
