The series was started by John Russell and Matt Wenger in 2009, after the pair had visited a friend in the MidWest and saw the glory of weekday mountain bike racing. The Orange County series is hosted at Irvine Lake with a fairly short track consisting of singletrack and fire roads- a little something for every type of rider, including a couple of nice short climbs to help break things up a tad.

Lots of competition.

In 2009, the races sold out with over 300 racers and even more spectators. In 2010 the series grew from 2 races to 12 races, all on Tuesday evenings.

Top International Pros Tinker Juarez (Cannondale Factory Racing) and Sid Taberlay (Sho-Air/Specialized) will contest the final race alongside young kids, recreational riders and aspiring Pros.

Crankbrothers giveaway stuff.

Team Sho-Air's presence makes the elite class an ouch fest.

Among the lure of the race includes an expo filled with vendors from the local bike shop to businesses who support mountain bike racing, including longtime supporters SilverSage Advisors.

Tinker Juarez also helps to keep the field honest.

Racing begins at 6:00 and the BBQ runs from 5:00 pm to 8:00.
