The National Championships in Sun Valley Idaho this weekend saw heated racing in both the men's and women's categories. When the dust settled (and there was plenty of it on course) Todd Wells and Georgia Gould were left to take the stars and stripes jersey.
Sam Schultz jumped out to a quick lead on the first climb. The battle between he and Wells was hard fought and not decided until the final lap.
Todd Wells had an amazing day fighting off the competition and finished with a big win. He'll have to defend it here again next year in Sun Valley.
Georgia Gould had no problem with the rock waterfall feature at the end of the course. The trail crew here added several features to the course to make it more challenging for the competitors. She owned this race from the first lap and took home the stars and stripes jersey.
Always a contender... Ned Overend was taking the technical and inside fast lines all day. He finished just outside the top ten in 14th.
The course design was steep and challenging without much room to pass. Congratulations to the competitors on some great racing. Looking forward to seeing you back in Sun Valley next year!
