Mountain Bike Action's National Advertising Director, Robb Mesecher, finalized an agreement with the Over the Hump race series to be the exclusive OTH magazine of the 2013 series at both venues. The series, that started in Orange County, expands to the Los Angeles region for 2013 with a series held at Lake Castaic, starting Thursday night, May 23rd.
"For 28 years Mountain Bike Action has been there doing our best to grow the great sport of mountain biking," commented Robb. "It just felt like a natural to get behind and support the Over the Hump model. The friendly courses, the great organization and most of all, the people; they are our people. Having a venue in Santa Clarita run by the Infamous Kenny Alexander is a no brainer!"
The new venue will use the same format that made the Orange County event such a success. Most important, the course will not include the gut-retching climbs that the old Castaic loops are known for. Part of the OTH's success is a course that is beginner friendly and still challenging for accomplished racers. The races, that go off in waves by class, gives everyone a chance to mix it up with their heroes, like this young rider in front of a rapidly closing Johnny "O' Show" O'Mara (683).
The OTH Series is a great way to blow off some steam in the middle of the week. You don't need a cross-country race bike or a personal trainer. The events are designed to give beginners a fun experience.
