Temecula, CA

Over the weekend Vail Lake held a Mother's Day cross-country special. All mothers raced for $10. Here is a photo essay of what happened by RacersandChasers.com:

Happy Mother's Day: While 8- and 10-year-old's Brittany and Alexis
helped work staging, mom Wendy Walton raced and won.

Fun zone: The new grass staging area is right before the slides at the
Vail Lake Water Park. Shade is priceless in SoCal.

Full throttle: Blake Harlon (MonaVie-Cannondale) goes for the Holeshot
Award. In the end Chuck Jenkins was there first.

Holeshot Hot Spot: The first rider to hit this singletrack won the $15
Xbus Holeshot Award. Jeff Wagner placed 3rd Expert.

It's a grunt...: A view from Marine Corp towards the lake. That is Damn
Road heading out to the Damn Climb.

Dropping back down: Chuck Jenkins (KHS-Cytomax) cresting the hill just
after the Marine Corp climb.

It's bump free up here: Second best Sport Single Speed rider Jerome
Lacote finds the smooth line down.

Ready for a dip: Chuck Jenkins eyes the swimming pools as he completes
the first lap of Vail Lake's 6-mile Mother's Day circuit.

Pool area: Helen's Subaru-Gary Fisher rider Lyle Warner slices through
the grassy finish carousel.

Elite podium: Locals Chuck Jenkins and Lyle Warner finished 1st and
3rd. Second place Blake Harlon is a semipro from Texas.
