PERSONAL
Ever since Georgia Gould introduced herself to the mountain bike community with a surprising victory at the 2006 U.S. Mountain Bike Cross-Country Championships, she’s quickly become the most dominant off-road competitor on U.S. soil. In 2007 Georgia swept all six events on the Norba National Mountain Bike Series, scored her first podium finish in a Mountain Bike World Cup event, won the Pan American Mountain Bike Championships and rode to a top ten finish at the world championships.

Originally from Baltimore, Georgia attended Warren Wilson College and Oberlin College before settling in to the University of Montana in Missoula where she earned a degree in Psychology. Prior to graduation, she studied abroad in Ghana. Contrary to the image of an endurance athlete, Georgia was a heavy smoker, but gave it up and began a fitness regime which primarily included running. She originally got her start on the mountain bike as a member of Team Tamarack, a local cycling club in Idaho. After solid results on the regional and national circuit, she was offered a spot on the Luna CHIX’s Mountain Bike Team for the 2006 season and delivered a national title in July.

Georgia plans to seek an MBA following her competitive cycling days. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and recreational riding. She’s also involved in charitable causes such as mountain bike trail cleanup and reclamation initiatives, as well as junior athlete development.

POINTS OF INTEREST
*Georgia’s husband Dusty also travels the professional mountain bike circuit as a mechanic for the Trek-VW squad.
