Apparently, Contour wasn't the only camera maker with something up their sleeves. GoPro just announced the latest generation of their camera system, the Hero 3. The Hero 3 is smaller in stature, lighter weight and available in three different models. All three share the same new svelte body and have WiFi compatibility built in. The White Edition ($200) is GoPro's new entry-level option which is not a far cry from what the Hero 2 offered. The Silver Edition sees a stepped up, 11-megapixel sensor from the White's 5-megapixel and retails for $300.

The real showstopper is the Black Edition which retails for $400. It features a 12-megapixel sensor and is packed full of features such as: 4k cinema-quality video at 12-frames-per-second, better low-light performance, 30 FPS photo capture mode and includes a WiFi remote. However, mountain bikers should be most excited about its high-frame-rate modes such as 1080P at 60FPS and 720P at 120FPS. That is twice as fast as the Hero 2, which will translate to better slow-motion shots and smoother-looking video when used as an onboard camera on your bike.
