The new bikes include an
all new aluminum version of their tried and true Element frame with
26-inch and 29-inch wheel options. Also in the mix is a totally
redesigned version of their World Cup ready race-rocket, the carbon
Vertex RSL.

26" Element 10
With extensive input
from their World Cup team riders Geoff Kabush and Marie-Hélène Prémont,
Rocky Mountain is no stranger to designing cross country rocket ships.
Basically, they took the geometry from the original Element and
adjusted it to answer the modern racer’s needs. They also designed these
bikes with trail capable geometry, which means a slightly longer top
tube and a relaxed head angle. The new 26” alloy Element will have 120mm
of rear wheel travel and share many of the
same technologies with their carbon cross country bikes, the Element RSL
and MSL. The 2012 Element 26” also shares the same Smoothlink
suspension design with the carbon versions of the Element. According to
the head honchos at Rocky,"The 2012 Element climbs like a
race bike should and descends so well that Wade Simmons won’t put his
down."
29" Element 30
It was only a matter of time before Rocky Mountain decided to throw
their hat into the 29" full suspension arena. The Element 29” has
95mm of rear wheel travel and sports a brand new 29-inch specific
geometry they dub Race Tuned Compact (RTC). RTC-29 features super short
chain stays and wheelbase which they claim delivers
maximum agility in tight, technical terrain. They've also elected to go
with shorter top tubes on their 29-inch bikes to give them a more 26”
wheel bike cockpit feel. RTC-29 is designed to be a 29er that can thrive
in the trickiest conditions
