From Maxine Irving/littermag.com Welcome to what could be the answer to many Southern Californian's dreams--Another gravity-specific mountain bike park. Norba Gated Champ Eric Carter's dream is to turn Temecula's 9000 acres into a downhill and 4-Cross haven.
"This is something Southern California has needed for a long time," elaborated Eric. "Another shuttle-accessed gravity run. Along with my help, they're going to get it! How big is this going to become? There is already talk of an on-site water park as well as chair lift downhill access. Here a complete audio on Eric's plans:http://www.littermag.com/2008/features/featuremenu.php?featureID=1035 It took Eric Carter only two days alone and by hand to cut the first gravity run. It's the beginning of much more at Vail Lake. Eric Carter invited a few riders out to christen the DH trail and give feedback. After the first run, riders were scoping faster lines! The trail starts out with some technical turns up top, and then flows towards the end. The Division 26 crew (EC's clothing company) showed up and exclaimed, "he dug this in how many hours?" Vail Lake is already hosting 24 hour and XC events, and has more camping room than Woodstock. The DH uses the valley's natural terrain. Kevin Aiello gets it over as he points towards Vail's 1200 acre lake. Who better to dig in a dusty left hander than the man himself? Vail Lake has so much potential, it's scary. This trail will be a great race course. It's not super technical, but it will check you if not on your game The last section heads into a nice floater. Mike from Division 26 sends it. Aaron Gwinn stamps his seal of approval! Thanks Eric Carter, for being a mover not a faker...
