Whistler BC,Canada is hosting the Crankworx Festival August 9 to 16. It is a week packed full of gravity events featuring stars from all over the globe competing in Downhill, Slopestyle, Duals and More. Commencals Micayla Gatto is fresh off some of her best results on the World Cup circuit. With a 6th in Bromont and a 9th in Scotland this season. Full of confidence as the World Championships are approaching. Micayla is racing all week at Crankworx as some final preparation .

First up was the dual slalom. Gatto has spent the winter and part of the downhill season honing her BMX talent. It certainly paid off! In only her second ever dual slalom she blazed to the semi against multiple World Champion and BMX Olympic Medalist Jill Kintner of the USA. A promising lead out of the first two corners, ended in conceding to Kintner but put her through to the small final to battle for a medal against current 4X World Champion Melissa Buhl. Gatto took charge of both rounds to finish solidly on the podium in 3rd place.Jill Kintner took the victory with Fionn Griffiths of Great Britain in 2nd. Unfortunately, a mix up in results caused a delay in Micaylas 3rd place finish in the media. It was corrected the next day.

Next up on August 12th was the Air Downhill which is a relatively long decent from top to bottom of Whistler's famous A Line trail. The top 4 women all posted times under 5 mins. Gatto narrowly missed the podium at 4:52 :53 for 3rd to Emmeline Ragot of France at 4:52:04 . Griffiths and Kintner were 1st and 2nd respectively. The spread was 1.82 seconds away from 1st to 4th in the tight race Next up for Micayla. The Canadian Open DH on Sunday.
Rock it up Micayla!
