The Kern Valley Bike Park, located 160 miles North of Los Angeles and 52 miles East of Bakersfield, is coming to life thanks to the efforts of Ride KRV Bike Shop, the area's first dedicated bike shop, Bionicon USA and the
Kernville Chamber of Commerce.
The KV Park boasts seven acres of bike bliss with a huge pump track, mountain bike skills zones, trials zones, a jump/slopestyle zone and a singletrack loop filled with berms and stunts. The park is open dawn to dusk daily and there is no admission. Riders are required to become a member of the KV Bike Park to ride, which is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.
The under-construction pump track will have 200-foot-long straights that will ease beginners into pumping and generate unreal speed for advanced riders.Get your membership at RIDE KRV Bike Shop. The grand opening is slated for August 21st with music, races and demo shows during the day. A fund raiser BBQ/party will finish off the evening. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor or donating, please contact KV Bike Park president Paul Ferguson at (760) 376-8600 or treasurer Chris Brayman at (760) 223-6165.
Learn skills in a controlled, comfortable setting. While the Kern River Valley is dry, the mountain location beats the nasty heat suffered in Bakersfield. The KV Bike Park is in the middle of the Kern River Valley, a place that offers really great epic rides outside the park as well as river activities. We have to agree with the KV Bike Park staff when they say the area is "the last great under-discovered gems of Southern California."
There is no faster way to learn to bunnyhop than to find one of these guys in your way.MORE MAC ATTACK
