A concerted effort by elitist trail users is underway to assure that mountain biking is not permitted in any LA City Park. CORBA, the Concerned Off-Road Bicyclist Association, has organized a response to the attack and hopefully brought a more balanced discussion to trail use for mountain bikers in LA City Parks.
Here is the latest CORBA news on the situation.
The origin of the anti-bike rehetoric comes from a small, but extremely vocal knot of equestrians who represent themselves as the mouthpiece of the majority of horse riders and non-cyclist trail users in LA county. They are no such thing, and yet they have painted a horrendous picture of the mountain biking community in an effort to score access to LA parks all for themselves.
I also have horses and as such, have become adept at recognizing horse manure in any form--and I can say with confidence that this group and its anti-bike claims are definitely horse manure.
Equestrians already have exclusive use (no bikes allowed) of LA's largest largest wildland trail system in Griffith park. Cyclists have not asked for access to Griffith park, however, we do need access to shared riding opportunities throughout LA county's other wildland trails and parks. Help CORBA put an end to the reign of terror that this elitist minority has so happily inflicted upon us, and send a better message to the LA City Council Planning Commission.
