From ex motocross star and Cat Classic organizer Warren Reid:
With the Christmas Season coming up, this is a request for donations to a great charity that gives 100% of the money raised to buy a bicycle for a disadvantaged kid. The program is the Mark J Reynolds Memorial First Bike Fund.
Mark is the expert mountain bike racer who tragically lost his life after he was attacked by a mountain lion. He was very well liked and known by many throughout the MTB and Motorcycle communities. One of Mark's great passions was to buy bikes and deliver them to needy kids himself. Now his family is continuing this charitable work in Mark's name.
In Williamsport where I live, our club, the S.V.V.C. promotes the Cat Classic Mountain Bike Race every May, which supports the Mark Reynolds Fund. We are in the process of working with the local school district and the local Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization to identify needy kids from the Williamsport area to get bikes this Christmas.
We all remember our first bicycle. The more money in our fund, the more bicycles we can buy this Christmas and the more kids we reach with that first bicycle experience. Some of the people reading this know of my 42 year bicycle and motorcycle background. My life revolves around two wheeled sports and always has. It all started with that first bike. Heck, two wheeled fun is the only leverage my mom had to keep me in school (and actually do some of the required work). Two wheels set my lifetime career in motion as it did for a number of you.
