WHAT: One-shot race to determine the best downhiller in California.
FORMAT: The best combined time of two runs will be used to determine the winner.
PRIZES: $1000 Pro purse and payback to the top 3 riders in each expert class. The top 15 riders in each class qualify for the U.S. Nationals at Mammoth.
DETAILS: You must be a NORBA member in order to compete. The weekend kicks off 9:30 a.m. Saturday with downhill practice. There will be 2 bike transports and 4 people movers. Sunday practice starts 9:30 a.m., with the moment of truth scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. ENTRY BONUS: NORBA cardholders will receive a $5 entry discount. But if you are also a member of the Southridge Racing Club, you will earn an additional $10 discount. COURSE DESIGN: Eric Carter is fully involved with course layout. TOP DOGS: As defending champion, Yeti-Sponsorhouse rider Rich Houseman is the pro to beat. Mongoose-Hyundai's world champ, Eric Carter, is all healed from his broken foot and Southridge would make the perfect warmup for the Deer Valley NORBA National opener. U.S. National Champ and Houseman's Yeti teammate Duncan Riffle is also a huge threat. Other contenders include privateer Waylon Smith and ODI-Southridge rider Daniel Umland.
In the women's class the top rider is 2005 Southridge Winter Champ Susan Liljeroos. Other guns include Funpig rider Lisa Reinhard and privateers Donna Vargas, Linda Travis and Kote Thomas.
