Dear Mountain Bike Action: What time of the year between September and November would be the best to go to Moab, Utah and Fruita, Colorado? I am alone and I have no friend in America so I'd need at least information about the weather.
-Claudio, the Italian tourist
A: First off, we are your friends, Claudio. Second, you are picking great months to visit Moab and Fruita if you can’t make it in April or May. There is no sure thing with the weather in any desert, but October is best. November can start to get cold and September can still be feeling the heat of the past summer. Still, all three months will work and rain should not be major factor. In fact, you should hope it rains (at least a little). Both places are way too big to try on your own so do yourself a favor and contact Rim Tours, (click here), in Moab. We have been on a number of their trips with Kirstin Peterson and Matt Hebberd who run Rim Tours. They are good people, serve great food and they know every inch of Moab and Fruita. Another alternative we can recommend is Lee Bridgers’ Dreamride (click here). This guy wrote the book on Moab (literally) and he is as unique as the places he’ll take you to. Dreamride does things on a small scale and limits their groups to four riders. Either of these guides will maximize your adventure time.
