Round 2 of the Cal State XC series took place on a 9 mile circuit with 1,100 feet of climbing. Check out the mere seconds separating the top four finishers. The last 2 miles of the course dished up some rolling climbs with lots of high speed fire road descending. It had to have been a full moto into the finish!
Charge: Leonardo Sandoval (305), Bruce Muhlfeld (252), Steve Kinney (257), Manuel Prado (361), Charles Jenkins (310), and Perry Paolini (319) blast off the pro start.
Tightly packed: Expert 40-44 winner Bob Kmetz (242) leads Bill Scott (298), and Andy Osburn (331). Dermot Carrol (321) hammered past the younger guns en route to the 45-49 checkers.
Match made in heaven: The Bruce & Tomarra Muhlfeld combo continues to rule. Tomarra won the Pro Women, while 49-year old Bruce placed an awesome 7th in the Pro Men's.
Visual: Third place Beginner 19-24 Joshua Huttger kept Adam Torpey behind him all the way to the finish. Socal is extra beautiful after some spring rain. The race weather was perfect 70s.
MBA's Titus: Eddie Arnet blasts through the infamous Bonelli stream crossing. It's tree covered and muddy for up to a mile afterwards. Eddie placed 6th Expert 45-49.
Sky cam: The water crossing from above. If you didn't correctly prep the chain and rode through, this stream will ruin your race. Knowing riders carried a bottle of lube with them.
Up-and-comer: Semipro winner Ty Kady pulls away through a Bonelli "forest". Ty has accomplished a lot in only three years of racing. There's a lot more in those legs.
Maze: Bonelli had numerous of these high speed drops down into an unforgiving, sharp and sometimes off-chamber 90 degree turns. Rain had left the dirt packed and sticky almost everywhere but here.

All in the family: After two events Platinum Performance is already locked in a tight battle with AFP-Velo Sport for the Coed Team Championship. Platinum rider Amy Bowen placed 6th Pro Women.
