BIG BEAR SHOOTOUT TOP 10

Big Bear was the venue of the 4th race of the California State Series. Following the ridgeline above Snow Summit, the BB Shootout course packed a punch with lots of tough fire road climbing. Right out of the gate racers were hit with a relentless, 2 mile ascent that gave the true climbers a big advantage. Altogether the 21 mile expert loop dished up 3350 feet of climbing. The sports raced 16 miles with 2250 feet of vertical gain, and the beginners 12 miles and 1675 feet. As we've seen over the years at Big Bear, it was the tough, loose and rocky Fall Line singletrack descent into the finish that really tested the tired riders' technical ability. With the threat of rain holding off and the welcomed relief of moderate temperatures, the Big Bear Shootout was an epic day of racing.

For the Big Bear Shootout racers staged out of La Montana's Authentic Mexican restaurant. Team Big Bear treated all entrants to a 2 taco dish with an XTZ energy drink. Then the award ceremonies took place on the outdoor patio behind the restaurant. It was a class act.

TEAM PLATINUM PERFORMANCE
The Platinum Performance team continued it's dominance in the coed category, padding its point lead in the process. Platinum only had 17 rosterred racers at this race. After the dust had cleared, we came away with 6 wins! That is the most 1st place finishes so far this year. First place finishes were taken by Todd Booth (Exp 35-39), Stacy Roberts (Spt Wmn 19-29), Mike Roberts (Beg 50-54), Ian Mcfarland (Spt 16-), Nick Davis (Spt 45-49), and Luke Werkhoven (Spt Clyd). Second place finishes went to Terry Dahl (Exp 60-64), Steve Bertrand (Beg 50-54), and Melanie Davis (Beg Wmn 14-). Shawn Hill (Beg 30-34) and Harrison Davis (Beg 15-) both placed third.

Platinum Performance riders not mentioned and who did not make it on MBA's Top 10 List: Roger 007 Moore (4th Exp 35-39), Bob Nisbet (4th Exp 40-44), Andy Osburn (5th Exp 40-44), Herb Wright (5th Spt 30-34), Steve Silva (8th Exp 45-49), John Reveles (8th Spt 35-39), Jim Garwood (11th Spt 50-54)
