Powerhouse: The Platinum Performance gang at Big Bear. These are some of
the guys that are going to keep the Cal State Team Trophy at Platinum.
Team Big Bear was the host of round 8 of the California State
Cross-Country Series. The summit course consisted of long fire road
climbs, chewed up jeep trails, fast descents, and finished off with a
highly technical, 3 mile drop down Fall Line Trail. For the elites it
was 29 miles worth of hard riding, with 3400 feet of high altitude
climbing. The Sports went 19 miles with 2600 feet of total climbing.
Additional cutoffs for the beginners shortened the course to 15.5 miles.
With a two mile climb opening the start, oxygen debt hit us early.
Platinum rider Jamie Goldstein was the fastest out of our group, placing
fourth in a very stacked semipro class. Class winners on our team in
cluded Jonathan Luckett (Beg 40-44), Kat Post (Beg Wmn 40+)), Luke
Werkhoven (Spt Clyd), and myself in the Expert 35-39 class. Second place
finishes were seen by Mike Roberts (Beg 50-55) and Melanie Davis (Wmn
14-). Top three performances were put in by Terry Dahl (Exp 60-64), Bob
Nisbet (Exp 40-44) and Harrison Davis (15-). The remaining Platinum
Performance Big Bear Shootout 2 rides include Nick Davis, 4th Spt 40-44;
Roger Moonraker Moore, 6th Exp 35-39; Aaron Transki, 8th Exp 35-39; and
John Reveles, 12th Spt 35-39.
