Dear Mountain Bike Action,
I got a Cannondale SL-4 for Christmas that has 3 rings in the front. I have already bent a couple of the teeth riding. I am wondering: is there is an inexpensive or cost-effective way to put a bashguard on and maybe a chain tensioner too?

Mountain Bike Action: Try the RaceFace Half Bash.

It mounts to the outside of the chainring on the side you most
often hit on rocks. It's a light weight and simple solution that will
work with your triple.
As for a chainguide setup, the only one we know
of that works with a triple is the Bionicon C.Guide.

We have a couple of
these we're currently testing, but the verdict is still out. Keep your
eyes peeled in our upcoming issues for a full test.
