Larry "Lare-Dog" Branham (the leader of the Warrior's Society Dog Soldiers) has laid out a new singletrack trail at The Flying B Ranch. The new singletrack will begin off the bottom of the hike-a-bike trail used in the Sundown Sprint Series and traverse up the canyon to the ridgeline road. It'll be a fun singletrack, roughly 2/5 of a mile long.
We are hoping to have this singletrack built in time for the Switchback Cyclery 6-Hours of Orange County event on Saturday, November 5. Those participating in the Saturday, August 27 Fundraiser for Monique and Ron Sawicki will get the first look at the course. We will be seeking volunteers to work on their own during the week and weekends to complete this new trail. Volunteers who participate in building the trail will qualify for a prize drawing at the Switchback Cyclery 6-Hours of Orange County on Saturday, November 5. (We will be recognizing all the Warrior's Society's 2004-2005 volunteers at this event with a major prize drawing).
Once the singletrack is in we will have a good 35 to 45 minute course that will allow us to have a full calendar of cross-country and other events in 2006.
In the future we intend to expand the singletrack system at The Flying B and convert more of the existing fire roads to singletrack.
Many thanks to Tim and Sherry at Switchback Cyclery for being a major sponsor the 6-Hour event with a $1,000 donation. More info at www.warriorssociety.org.
