RACE HIGHLIGHTS
Not only did they race, the MTBers took names and turned heads: *Former MTB Junior World Champ Trent Lowe rode away from everyone climbing up to the Oak Glen Stage 1 mountaintop finish. Specialized's Liam Killeen was also impressive in 3rd, as well as local boy done good Cameron Brenneman. Killeen placed 6th last year. *Make no mistake, original NORBA Champ Steve Tilford knows how to race crits. Tilford finished 11th in Stage 2's Downtown Crit, followed in by the main group that included Neil Shirley, Liam Killeen, Trent Lowe and Cameron Brenneman. Shirley is another do-good SoCal local. By all accounts Tilford has at least 103 years of racing experience under his belt. *Trent Lowe, normally racing off-road for Subaru-Gary Fisher, came within 7 seconds of winning the final general classification. Finishing behind in third overall, Liam Killeen was another 24 seconds behind Lowe. *Specialized MTBer Sid Taberly took top climber points. *The composite team that Tilford, Taberly and Lowe rode on, California Giant-Village Peddler, took 5th in the team general classification standings. They finished 03:33 behind winners Team Redlands--Jelly Belly-Pool Gel. *On the women's side, the Ford Cycling team with Dara Marks-Marino and Kelli Emmett finished 4th in the women's team general classification at 17:24. Team T-Mobile won the team crown.
