29th ANNUAL PEARL PASS TOUR TO ASPEN

The Pearl Pass Tour to Aspen (and back) The oldest mountain bike event in the world is repeated year after year on a September weekend. The first tour happened in 1976 when a group of Crested Butte rowdies pedaled and pushed their one-speed klunkers over the 12,705 ft. pass and on into Aspen. They didn't know what they were creating.

The 29th Annual, 2005 tour, will be on the weekend of September 17th and 18th. Saturday the 18th we meet in Crested Butte at Donita's Cantina, 4th and Elk Avenue at 8:30 am. The Tour Departs at 9:00 am. There is a gear shuttle to Aspen and back for $5.00. There is no registration and the tour is free. We ride over the 12,700 ft. Pearl Pass on Saturday and return to Crested Butte via Taylor and Star Passes on Sunday. Saturday's route is 38 miles, Sunday's ride is a bit longer. The tour is loosely guided, with many stops to re-group along the way. There is always a big group photo on top of the passes. Everyone is on their own for lodging in Aspen and we do try to go out for dinner as a group on Saturday Night. If you think you might like to join us or for more details call 800-454-4505 or email mbikehof@crestedbutte.net.
