Schwinn's flagship platform is the three line 405 series. All three bikes use the same Active Link aluminum suspension frame with adjustable 4- or 5-inch travel. The bike shown is the midline 405 Comp. Spec features include: 4.7 inch SR/Suntour Raidom DS shock and SR/Suntour XCR fork. Shimano Deore/M530 drivetrain with Alivio triggers and Shimano Altus crankset. ProMax hydraulic 160mm discs. Formula hubs, Alex rims, and Continental Speed King 1.95-inch tires. 31.8mm riser bar. Suggested retail price of $899.99. The big differences on the basic Schwinn 405 is its black finish and $699.99 price tag; different spec features that include: Coilover shock and 4.7-inch travel SR/Suntour XCM fork. Shimano Alivio/M311 24-speed drivetrain with Shimano Acera triggers and Suntour crankset. Bengal mechanical 160mm discs. Kenda K-1027 1.95-inch tires. The top of the line Schwinn 405 Elite uses a red finish and goes for $1199.99. The big spec upgrades include: RockShox Bar 2.1 shock and RockShox Tora 208 U-Turn adjustable travel fork. Shimano SLX/M412 drivetrain with Deore triggers and Shimano non-series crankset. Shimano non-series hydraulic 160/180mm discs. Shimano non-series hubs, Alex disc rims, Continental Speed King 1.95-inch tires.
