The American Mountain Classic is shaping up to be a who’s who in the U.S. cross-country and endurance-racing scene. The event format and course layouts should make for an even playing field as the stars converge on the resort town of Brian Head, Utah August 21-24 to stake their claim at a combined $20,000 pro pursue.
In only it’s first year, America’s Richest Mountain Bike Stage Race is drawing some of the sport's top cross-country talent, including Trek-VW rider and current U.S. National Marathon and Short Track National Champion Jeremiah Bishop, along with teammates Lea Davison, and Jenny and Brian Smith. Also slated to compete is Subaru-Gary Fisher’s dynamic duo of Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski and Heather Irmiger, along with Kona’s Ryan Trebon. Even America’s top U23 World's racer Tim Allen as well as Monavie-Cannondale up-and-comer Sue Butler appear on the talent-rich roster.
Adding to the events international flavor is five-time Australian National Champion and Santa Ynez Norba National XC winner Sid Taberlay along with his Sho-Air/Specialized teammate Manuel Prado of Cost Rica, fresh off a third place at this year’s Leadville Classic.
Joining the cross-country stars is Specialized’s endurance queen and 24 Hour World Champion Rebecca Rusch, along with three-time La Ruta Women’s Champion Louise Kobin of Sho-Air/Specialized.
Along with the Pro payout, the American Mountain Classic is offering amateur riders a chance to ride some of the most pristine trails in America, as well as a shot at winning some fantastic prizes including custom champion and race finisher jerseys.
