Rye Airfield and Aaron Chase of SoBe/Cannondale have joined forces to bring to you the 1st Annual Big Wheels 26? Contest on Monday, August 19th, 2002 at 7pm, directly after the NORBA Finals at Mount Snow, Vermont. Aaron is quickly becoming one of the driving forces in new school, street-style riding. Besides starring in the Chain Reaction series of videos AC recently won the Roundhouse Rumble, a MTB street contest in Toronto. So far there looks to be a horde of top professional and amateur mountain bikers committed to competing and showing to the world that mountain bikers can bring skatepark and street riding to a new level. They will be competing in a best of a 2 run format, in a state of the art, 50,000 square foot Mecca of ramps, rails, ledges, spines, minis and much more!

Rye Airfield is a new non-profit extreme sports park located just one hour north of Boston, on the coast in beautiful Rye, New Hampshire. Rye Airfield sits on 57 acres of land with the country?s largest indoor park, a 1300-foot long downhill BMX Super Track as well as a 25,000 square foot area of dirt jumps. Beau Lambert, Director of Operations at Rye Airfield says, ?I have seen mountain bike riding develop for more than a decade, from the hey days of cross-country racing into the freeride craze. This is just the next natural step in a natural progression of the sport and it is an absolutely positive move towards getting the spice back into mountain biking.?

The contest will be broken into both Pro and Amateur categories with a cash purse for the pros and plenty of cool swag for the amateurs. The contest will be rider judged where the participants judge each other on style, creativity, composition, and execution of tricks. Aaron Chase explains, ?I hope to make this event a stepping stone for other street riding events. I would love to see this kind of event take off and become more popular across the United States.?
