15th ANNUAL SOUTHRIDGE CHALLENGE

Thread: Great Britain's Nigel Page slices his Intense M3 through the right side of the rock garden. Nigel is the rider to beat when the Winter Series starts January 13 & 14, 2007.

Southridge's tricky rock garden: Taking the left side through wasn't as fast this year. In SoCal the November weather is 80+ degrees and the dirt is loose and powdery.

Big turnout: William Granley joined 23 other 27-34 Experts who took turns at beating eventually class winner Matt Lay. William blurs the senses as he cuts around the water tank.

Fresh gun: There were a lot of new faces who traveled afar to make the Southridge Challenge. Matt Kuys took 2nd in a stacked and very fast Sport 18-and-under class.

Roots: Russ LeBarron won the Expert 35-44 class. Russ is one of the original odi-Southridge riders who is back on the team and flying. Like many other locals, Russ came up through ABA BMX.

XC start: Bruce Muhlfeld, Ty Kady, Veeze Price (white helmet), Ely Woody (blue/white helmet), Derek Herman, Michael Hines, Zach Patterson, Jake Orness, Eddie Arnet and Bob Kmetz.

No brakes: Second fastest semipro Veeze Price floats his Tri Country Eye-Competitive Edge Cannondale Scalpel out of the G-out heading down the singletrack off of Water Tank Hill.

Hold on: Team Possibilities' Art Escamilla keeps his eyes peeled for a smooth line down the final drop into Southridge's back valley. It was so challenging that many opted to run the bike down.

Commuter: MBA's Eddie Arnet raced XC Saturday, the Turkey 'Cross in Palos Verdes Sunday morning, and then the Southridge SD Sunday afternoon. Ed's taking the shortcut option off Sandbag Hill.

Supercross: Caleh Beltran and Nick Roberts through the whoops early off the start. Caleh captured the Beginner 16-18 victory, while Nick took 3rd in the Beginner 19-26 category.
