EVENT DATE: May 24, 2008

THE VENUE: We use the local high school as one of the most convenient race sites ever. Real bathrooms, hot showers, paved parking and intown convenience. The catered deli sandwiches arrive at lunch time.

FORMAT: We run the race from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., so you don't need lights. Only laps completed by 8 p.m. sharp count.

COURSE: It's all in the Weaverville Basin Trail System; 8.9 miles per lap with 1400 feet of climbing. The course exits the back of Trinity High School and climbs 3 miles up the wide, dirt Weaver Bolly Road. At the top the course veers onto 1 mile of rough, downhill two-track, then onto singletrack for the rest of the circuit. Much of the singletrack is made up of flume trails dug by hand during the gold rush era of the 1850's. It's a swooping, sweeping, flowing, monorail, roller-coaster of ride. The singletrack finally rejoins back down Weaver Bolly Road. Head through the high school start/finish and out for another lap.

CATEGORIES: We offer a complete selection of categories for solos or teams of 2, 3 or 4 riders: Beginner, Sport, Expert, Pro, Junior 17-and-under, Master 40+, Super Master 50+, Super Duper Master 60+, Uber Super Duper Master 75+, Women Junior 17-and-under, Women Beginner, Women Sport, Women Expert/Pro, Mixed (at least one woman), Clydesdale (each rider 200lb+), Tandem, Unicycle and Single Speed.

CAMPING: East Weaver Campground is 3 miles from the race venue. From Weaverville take Highway 3, just past the Weaverville Airport and turn left on East Weaver Road 1 mile to the campground. Daily fee is $10 per site. There's another campground at Junction City, 8 miles west on Hwy299. Not good enough? Then go to Rush Creek 6 miles out Highway 3. Rush Creek has no water, but it's only $7. Or go 7 miles west of Weaverville off Highway 299 and Steiner Flat Road to Douglas City; 18 tent/trailer campsites, group picnic area, picnic tables, telephone, beach, paved loop road, flush and vault toilets, potable water and fire rings. All that for only $10.00 per vehicle, per night.
