SOUTHRIDGE WINTER SERIES DOWNHILL REPORT

(1/21/2008)

Gale force: The DH starts way up the right and over the top of the
hill. For the full Sunday 50 mph Santa Ana gusts were blowing palm
fronds and riders alike.

Factory rig: Official service tech Ryan Ives sets up the full Shimano
support operation over the new Southridge gravel pit area. Ryan was a
popular man over the weekend.

Hold on to your hat: SRC Finish Line Crew of Colby Young, Britney
Jackson, Bison's wife Courtney Simpson, Rich's mom Shar Houseman and
Lanny. The wind made goggles a must.

Odds in the wind: Eric Carter defies the wind and takes the stealth
pro line. When and were the gusts hit during a run could make the
difference between a win and a loss.

Fresh face: Aaron Gwin motos and trains with Cody Warren, as well as
rides for Cody's C Dub Racing. Aaron came out of nowhere and placed a
solid 3rd. That's Guitar Man up on the rock.

Get your legs on: Fourth place Pro Woman Stephanie Gaudreau eyeballs
the drop down to the gravel road pedal section. It's a 100 yard sprint
from here to the cul-de-sac.

Aerodynamics: Third fastest Pro Woman Michelle Rivera tucks into her
best time trial pose and cheats the wind down the pedaling straight.
Michelle rides for Steven K.

Life behind the walls: Number one Sport 45-54 Tony Finch overtakes
fifth place rider Kevan Wilkins as they race down behind the housing
development. This section is fast!

Moment of truth: How often do you see a DH finish come down to a
sprint? First place 35+ Sport Woman Carla Bray and 13-15 Junior Chris
Meyer aim home.

Sand blast: Riders even had to battle the wind to check results. In
the green with goggles is the legendary Blaine Bison Simpson. Bison
placed 9th in a huge 27-34 Expert group.

Why is it you guy's work SO hard to try to exclude any KHS riders or anything to do with KHS for that matter? Even though KHS is a platinum sponsor of the Southridge Winter Series and a presenting sponsor of the Fontana National.

Just curious?
