Northstar® Resort today announced its downhill mountain bike park will reopen for the summer season on Friday, June 12, 2009. Featuring more than 100 miles of trails and the most extensive lift-served trail network in the Western U.S., the Northstar Resort mountain bike park offers beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain for cross-country and downhill riders.

Riders will enjoy signature trails including LiveWire, Easy Rider and the 2Six Jump Park. LiveWire, the first downhill bike trail of its kind, features an irrigation system that runs the length of the trail. And, at almost two miles long with a vertical drop of over 1,100 feet, LiveWire contains more than 45 tabletop jumps, large berm turns and a surface that is fast, smooth and tacky, giving riders superior traction without the dust. Northstar Resort's newest beginner trail, "Easy Rider," is nearly 1.75 miles in length, maintains an average width of four to six feet, and an average grade of five percent. The trail begins at mid-mountain, near the top of the Gondola Express chairlift, and ends in the Village at Northstar™. The 2Six Jump Park features small, medium and large lines, inviting riders to progress their skills over time. The three lines contain tabletops, doubles and large doubles, and positioned together, allow riders to transition between lines. The 2Six Jump Park is located off of Village Run, near the Lower Mineshaft area.
This summer, to complement the full season of Downhill and Cross-Country mountain bike events scheduled, the Northstar Resort Mountain Bike Park will introduce a new Super D Mountain Bike race series, Giant for Women road and mountain bike camps, complimentary mountain tours* and other instructional riding sessions.
