Know a rider who deserves to be honored as
MBA's Rider of the Year? It is easy to make it happen. Here is how you pull it off.
Step One: Find a photo of that special someone and make a copy of it. Do not use the original photo in case you have a problem. Open your copy on whatever photo or image manipulation program you have on your computer. I used the very basic Apple Preview program to pull this off so you shouldn't have problems.
Step Two: Choose from one of the four
MBA logo and coverline templates below and download it to your computer. I chose the white lettering with the "Rider Of The Year" headline on the right side because it will fit this photo nicely.

Step three: Open the template and choose "
Select all" from your program's menu and then click
"Copy." Close the template.

Step four: Go back to your rider photo and click "
Paste."

Step Five: Using the little anchors at the top and corners of the
MBA template that is now sitting on top of your photo, stretch or squeeze the artwork until it looks good over your photo.
Step six: You might be ready to print your cover at this point, but I don't like the way the rider's helmet is behind the logo.
Step seven: I went back to the original photo and using the lasso tool, I traced around the rider's helmet. Once happy with my clipping path, I hit "
copy" and closed the original file.
Step eight: I went back to my cover version and hit "
paste." I could then move the clipping path of his helmet to position it properly and hit "
save." Using a good quality glossy photo paper, I print out my masterpiece and present it to the rider. If you really want to make an impression, glue your cover on an issue of the magazine to give it a realistic feel or frame it.
SHOW US YOUR RESULTSIf you are pumped on your rider of the year cover, you should show it to everybody. E-mail it to
Jamesmac@hi-torque.com and I'll post as many as we can.
SPECIAL THANKS
A shout goes out to Tim LaPaglia who put the templates together and figured out how to make this idea work.
