Shimano Winter Series #4 XC & Super D Highlights

(3/4/2009)
By Joe Lawwill
Donny Jackson and the Southridge USA crew delivered once again. With rain just prior to the event riders were treated to perfect Southern California racing conditions. Don’t ever let the threat of rain at a Fontana event ever detour you from coming out.

Riders enter newly added singletrack section on the xc course

The mostly sand conditions just get better with rain! With a new section added to keep riders on their toes the XC saw 200+ riders circulate the fast fun course.

Riders climbing out of the new singletrack section. The tacky terrain was a treat.

Krista Park runs to the hills.

Joe Lawwill won the Expert 35-42 XC race on Saturday,
and also placed 3rd in the Pro DH on Sunday.

Eric Bierman rounds another lap on the XC course.
He finished 2nd Place Pro XC and won the Pro Super D.

Pro Men's XC podium: 1st place David Santos, 2nd place Eric Bierman,
3rd place Jason Siegle,
4th place Michael Hansen, 5th place Griffith Vertican

The fun and challenging Super D events continue to draw more riders each week. The course uses a mix of cross-country trails and fast downhill sections. Most riders finish the course in just under five minutes.

#328 Rob Whyte won the Super D Sport Division.

The Shimano Winter Series has events for all ages.
As usual, the Shimano Kids race was hotly contested.
