Giustaforza Torque Wrench

(11/14/2008)
From: MBA Magazine

    Mountain bikes can have a combination of steel, aluminum and titanium hardware connecting carbon fiber, plastic, steel, aluminum and titanium parts. You are asking for trouble if you try to torque your hardware by “feel.” The $189.95 Giustaforza torque wrench takes the guesswork out of snugging hardware.
    Features: Giustaforza means, “correct force” in Italian. No surprise then that the tool’s inventor is materials engineer Alberto De Gioannini. De Gio was surprised to find that most mountain bike mechanics were using torque wrenches that clearly originated from other industries. His Giustaforza (GF) torque wrench was designed for mountain bikes. The GF torque wrench includes all of the bits needed to work on a mountain bike’s lightweight parts and has a precise torque range of 2Nm to 16Nm (0.74 Foot-Lbs. to 11.81 Foot-Lbs.). You can get more information by calling (970) 472-0125.
    MBA Rating: **** We’ve had other torque wrenches that we liked (the Magura Torque Wrench comes to mind), but the Giustaforza takes it up a notch. The tool is a great size that feels perfect in your hand. It is easy to set the desired torque (you twist a dial on the bottom of the tool and a cutaway window allows you to monitor the torque setting). The 15 bits and two extensions handled every job we encountered. We would like to see the tool come with some type of holder for the bits, because they can be a chore to keep track of. The Giustaforza torque wrench will save us from the agony of snapping a bolt or clamp the night before an important ride.

Thrash test rating:
***** Perfection
**** Delivers above average value and performance
*** Recommended for intended application
** Shows potential but has drawbacks
* Save your hard-earned bucks
